Rikulau Story

2006
THE FIRST TITANIUM MOUNTAIN BIKE
Built from Ti-3Al-2.5V titanium alloy and finished in the “Leopard Eye” paint scheme.
THE FIRST TITANIUM ROAD BIKE
Built with a Ti-3Al-2.5V titanium frame and carbon seatstays, featuring the “Nebula” paint scheme. The carbon seatstays were later omitted from the production model.
THE FIRST REYNOLDS 853 STEEL ROAD BIKE
Built with Reynolds 853 air-hardening steel tubing from the UK, offering a strength-to-weight ratio second only to titanium alloy. Finished in the “Phoenix Reborn” paint scheme, the model remained so beloved that riders continued writing to us in hopes of its return—even after production had ended.
2007
THE FIRST REYNOLDS 853 STEEL MOUNTAIN BIKE
Built with Reynolds 853 air-hardening seamless steel tubing from the UK and finished in the “Patada” paint scheme—meaning “companion” in the Rukai language. This was RIKULAU’s first model to be exported to Israel.
REYNOLDS 953 STAINLESS STEEL
RIKULAU introduced a road bike made with Reynolds 953 maraging stainless steel tubing—the legendary flagship material from Reynolds of the UK, renowned for its exceptional strength and toughness. Beyond its outstanding performance, 953 is also notoriously difficult to work with. RIKULAU became the second bicycle brand in the world—and the first in Asia—to use Reynolds 953.
2008
REYNOLDS 853 STEEL — MONDRIAN
Inspired by Piet Mondrian, the Dutch master of geometric abstraction, this design was more than a tribute to the classic steel bicycles of the 1980s—it became the most popular paint scheme in the RIKULAU 853 road bike series.
2013
CAMPY 80TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
Officially authorized by Campagnolo, this limited-edition bicycle was custom-designed to celebrate the brand’s 80th anniversary.
FROM JAPAN: HELIX STEEL
The base material was chromium-molybdenum steel from Nippon Steel. Key processes—including precision seamless tube drawing, secondary processing, and heat treatment—were carried out through a dedicated supply chain in Taiwan.
2014
DEVELOPMENT OF V9 STAINLESS STEEL
Continuing its collaboration with ORA Engineering, RIKULAU introduced V9 stainless steel tubing, developed from Reynolds 953. In addition to delivering more balanced performance and improved manufacturability, its construction was further refined from welded to seamless tubing, enabling a more even distribution of stiffness.
2015
RAAM — RACE ACROSS AMERICA
A Taiwanese team successfully completed RAAM for the first time, covering 3,000 miles from California to New York. RIKULAU crafted MASTER race bikes from Ti-3Al-2.5V titanium alloy and V9 stainless steel for the four Taiwanese riders.
2016
RIKULAU FOOTPRINTS
RIKULAU continues to support cycling clubs and programs, including young riders at Rinan Junior High School. Every sponsorship plants a seed of hope for the future.
2018
INTRODUCTION OF M3 STAINLESS STEEL
